Dr Hilton Immerman OAM
B.A; U.E.D (Natal); B.A Hons (S.A); M.Ed.Amin. (UNSW); M.A (Brandeis); Jer. Fellow; Ph.D. (UNSW); JP ; Hon. Fellow (UNSW)
Dr Hilton Immerman has been the head of Shalom College since 1989.
In 2004, Hilton Immerman was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to Adult Education and Leadership Development.
In 2012, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of NSW for “eminent service to the community and the University” particularly for his work on the Shalom Gamarada Indigenous Scholarship Program at Shalom College, UNSW.
In October 2014, he received Ron Castan Humanitarian Award - named for the late human rights lawyer - which “recognises individuals who have attained excellence and renown in their chosen humanitarian fields and whose actions, in addition to their achievements, embody the characteristics of the late Ron Castan that include wisdom, empathy, intellect, and graciousness.” His work in promoting Indigenous higher education through the Gamarada Scholarship Program was acknowledged by the judges.
Hilton formerly served as a UNSW academic, a leadership development consultant to a number of not-for-profit organisations, and the head of the English faculty at a leading Sydney independent school. While on sabbatical in Boston Massachusetts, he worked at Harvard University.
He has seven university degrees from 4 different continents.
Hilton is married to Marilyn and they have two sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
Hilton enjoys reading good literature, attending the theatre with friends and keeping fit. He is a regular at UNSW gym, hikes and plays squash.
He lives with his family in a house that is attached to the college.

Michelle Kubie is the Administrator of Shalom College.
She has a long association with UNSW and was most recently the Practicum Administrator for the School of Education. She also completed both her degrees in Science and Education at UNSW.
Michelle has taught science in both public and private schools before working as the Education Officer at The Australian Wildlife Park and the NSW Red Cross Blood Service.
Michelle has 3 teenage children and when time allows, enjoys reading, going to the beach and organising holidays!
